Abstract
Blood and saliva parameters in the Coldblood horse at rest ad during draft work Cortisol, lactate, glucose, urea, creatinine, lactate dehydrogenase and creatine phosphokinase were monitored in blood and saliva at rest and during exercise, in order to determine if blood sampling can be replaced by saliva testing, which is non-invasive and easier to perform. The results show that this is not possible for all of the parameters, but seems to work for cortisol, lactate, LDH and urea.
