Sterbehilfe - Sterbebegleitung alternativenlos, alternativ oder ganz anders?

Abstract

Wie verfestigt sich das moderne Postulat „Sterbebegleitung statt Sterbehilfe!“ zum Mythos, welche Mythen stehen dahinter und was geschieht durch diese Mythisierung auf den unterschiedlichen Ebenen sozialer Praxis? Aus der Perspektive eines systemtheoretisch informierten Konstruktivismus beantwortet Eva Koppehele diese Frage dreifach: Sie analysiert und typisiert den Diskurs über Sterben und Tod - auf der gesellschaftlichen Ebene am Beispiel soziologischer Argumentationen, - auf der organisationellen Ebene am Beispiel organisationeller Verlautbarungen und - auf der Interaktionsebene am Beispiel biografischer Narrationen Betroffener und themenzentrierter Experteninterviews. Mit der Konstruktion strukturell verschiedener und variantenreicher Typen weist sie nach, dass es nicht ‚die’ richtige Sterbebegleitung ‚gibt’, sondern dass der Umgang mit Tod und Sterben kommunikativ erzeugt wird. Indem sie zeigt, wie dies geschieht, kann sie die morallastigen Forderungen jenes Begleitungsmythos in differenziertere Thesen umformulieren und als adäquatere Handlungsanleitungen anbieten.

Abstract

How does the modern claim „Sterbebegleitung statt Sterbehilfe!“ change to a myth, what kinds of myths set it to work, and what happens by that mythology on the different levels of social practice? Proceeding from system-theoretical constructivism, Eva Koppehele answers these questions in three ways: She analyses and typecasts the discourse about dying and death - on the functional level by observing sociological argumentations - on the organisational level by observing organisational statements - on the level of interaction by observing biographical narrations and theme-centred interviews with experts. Constructing structurally different and various Types she demonstrates that there is not one ‘right’ end-of-life-care but a variety of dealing with death and dying which is communicatively created. By showing how this takes place she can alter those moralistic claims by more differenciated theses to present them as more adequate guiding principles.
